HO Scale Athearn SD40-2, Norfolk & Western 6175, (12/12/2010)

Touring the RIT Model Railroad Club’s layout with my new Athearn Ready-to-Run EMD SD40-2. Norfolk & Western 6175, in the maroon OCS scheme. Sorry about the mediocre quality in some of the shots, my camera is just a point-and-shot photo camera that doesn’t take good videos of small objects up close. Also the locomotive makes a lot of noise, but that’s because its an Athearn. Hope you enjoy this video, please rate, comment, subscribe, or do all three! : )

Norfolk Southern, Amtrak, Cabooses, Roadrailers and More in Northern Indiana

Various action from around the state. Train 1. Shot in New Carlisle Indiana on September 18, 2010. The Capitol Limited through the S curve at speed past an old grain elevator. We caught this train as we were leaving Goshen at 7:26, caught him here then again in Chesterton and again at Burns Harbor waiting at the crossovers at MP 491 at about 9am. He should have smoked us. Train 2. A few days earlier in Huntington IN I catch this Triple Crown roadrailer heading into the siding in downtown. Todays 260 had 150 trailers, the maximum number they are allowed to pull. Train 3. A very unique L44 heads east from the auto parts plant in Marion, IN towards the GM assembly plant in Roanoke, IN, about 20 miles further east of Huntington. This is a scheduled train that runs during the night, but the lights in Huntington light up the train just enough to see the old caboose on the rear. Train 4. Back in good ole Chesterton on Tuesday 10-19-10, I catch a 20E overtaking a B05 that will take the connection at CP 482 onto the Amtrak line to Michigan City. B05 will return at 4:34pm later this day to head back into Burns Harbor yard where it terminates. 20E is flying by at track speed with a decent sized train for Croxton, Morrisville, and Rutherford. Train 5. 23N from Columbus meets a South Shore train at the station in Burns Harbor. Train 6. Back in town, a 20K flies through town with a decent train and the usual 3 burners. It is nice to have an afternoon EB trailer train these days. Train 7

Riding the Daylight: SP 4449, Chicago to Durand for Trainfest 2009

I humbly submit a short montage of the videos I took from various vestibules on the train. I had an amazing time, the crew was wonderful! Sorry about all the wind noise but there’s not much too do about it. There’s some nice whistle work and a little bit of stack talk in here, although 4449 wasn’t exactly working too hard. It’s not like she was dragging 20 loaded Pullmans over Donner or anything. This little train was no sweat for the Pride of Portland! July 19th, 2009
