An O-Scale Daylight Passenger Train with double-headed GS-4′s

The ATSF&SP railroad is an O-Scale layout by Gary Schrader. It is open to the attendee of O-Scale West every year. On Jan 31, 2009, I visited the layout and took four video clips. This is the forth, or the last video clip. Well, what would I have to say more? Simply enjoy this gorgeous SP Daylight with double-headed GS-4′s!

Riding the Daylight: SP 4449, Chicago to Durand for Trainfest 2009

I humbly submit a short montage of the videos I took from various vestibules on the train. I had an amazing time, the crew was wonderful! Sorry about all the wind noise but there’s not much too do about it. There’s some nice whistle work and a little bit of stack talk in here, although 4449 wasn’t exactly working too hard. It’s not like she was dragging 20 loaded Pullmans over Donner or anything. This little train was no sweat for the Pride of Portland! July 19th, 2009

MTH Premier SP Daylight GS-2 & GS-4 O-Gauge Steam Locomotives Double-Headed in True HD 1080p

Two of the most popular videos that I’ve shot have been those showing the MTH Premier SP Daylight GS-2 and GS-4 steam locomotives, so they were among the first that I reshot in True HD 1080p. I had received requests to show them double-headed and did a video of that too. Well, I’ve now received requests to show them double-headed in HD so here they are, the GS-2 leading with the GS-4 following, hauling a long string of matching Daylight passenger cars. MTH Premier SP GS-4 Daylight O-Gauge Steam Locomotive in True HD 1080p

As long as I have the Southern Pacific (SP) Daylight passenger cars on the main track of the layout, I thought that I’d shoot my original Daylight locomotive, the GS-4 #4449, which I had converted from PS1 to PS2. This locomotive is a model of the GS-4 that still exists and that runs in excursion service from time to time in the western part of the country. The video is shot in True HD 1080p and I’ve run it slower than I usually do so that you can get a good look at the locomotive and cars. Toward the end, you can hear the passenger station announcement that’s part of the PS2 sound set. Enjoy!

Watch the 11 car train in several shots over a period of 3 days, as it passes along the Colombia River, up into Northeastern Washington, through Idaho, into Montana over the famed Marias Pass, and down across the plains of northern Montana in this 10 minute video. This is the first youtube video that I narrated, so please be understanding if things aren’t perfect. DVD info: What? Another DVD? Well, sort of… I have recieved a few requests to have this on DVD. MTH Premier O-Gauge SP Daylight GS-2 & GS-4 Double-Headed

Two of the most popular videos that I’ve shot have been those showing the SP Daylight GS-2 and GS-4 steam locomotives. I’ve received a number of requests to show them running double-headed. This video is the result of those requests. Here they are, the GS-2 leading with the GS-4 following, hauling a long string of matching Daylight passenger cars. After the first run-by, I wondered what they would look like at twilight, so I shut down most of the lighting for the second run-by. While grainier and more jerky than the fully lit run-by, it does let you see the cars lit mostly by their own lighting. HO Bachmann SP GS-4 Daylight and Lionel NYC Hudson

A video of two of my favorite model train and also real train engines running around my layout. Obviously, the layout is still under construction. The Hudson is very old, I think my grandpa said he bought it in the 60′s, so that is why it is a little loud and doesn’t run really smoothly. It has an awesome smoke effect though.
